Adult Forum sessions gather interested adults from Trinity and our community together to do some deep learning about social justice issues affecting our community so that we are enabled to go out and make a positive difference in the community. We meet several times a year to reflect on readings, have challenging but uplifting conversations, and work to make a positive impact on our lives and the lives of those we are learning about.
For our 2024-25 sessions, we will be participating in the ELCA’s Truth and Healing Movement, which is a chance for us to increase our understanding of our colonizing impacts on Indigenous people in the past and present. This is especially important given that we’re neighbors with the Tonawanda Seneca Nation.
Through our meetings, there will be opportunities to learn, raise awareness and engage in other ways to impact hearts and lives. We believe that the truth, and our knowing and embracing it, is the first step toward healing for all of us. During the year we’ll include book discussions, videos, prayer, action, and more.
Join us Sunday evenings from 6:30-8 pm on the following dates:
September 15
October 20: Join us 4-8 pm, we are hosting a screening of Killers of the Flower Moon with a movie discussion to follow.
November 10
We recently read the book Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer. You can find the book online, at bookstores and at the library.
